2022 Peter A. Larson Prize in International Studies Winner

Maria Alejandra Bruno

I am from Maracay, Venezuela. I graduated from Goldey-Beacom College in the spring of 2022, majoring in Communication & Media with a minor in Marketing. I received the Larson Prize on Honors Day in April of 2022. I was pleased when I received the award because I didn't expect to receive an award. It made me realize how hard I worked during my four years here at Goldey and everything I did before to get to the U.S. The scholarship impacted me emotionally since I was so proud of this achievement. When I got the award, my family was here with me; it was an emotional moment to share it with the people who had helped me get where I am now. Furthermore, this scholarship helped me financially – my family bought me a ticket to go to Europe as a graduation present, and the scholarship allowed me to visit some European friends I met during my years in college here in the U.S.

Currently, I am doing a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business. Also, here at Goldey-Beacom College, I am involved in different activities as a Resident Assistant, part of the tennis team, and team captain. Likewise, I am part of Rho Alpha Sigma, a Resident Assistant Organization.

I like spending time with my friends from Goldey and doing different activities like playing ping-pong, playing pool, grabbing a coffee, cooking dinner with them, going to the cinema, and watching movies. I also enjoy calling my family and friends from back home. I like being productive and always finding something to do.
