Meet the 2022 Scholarship Winners!
2021 Peter A. Larson Prize in International Studies Winner
Shaunasha M. Prevot
I am from the beautiful island of St. Lucia, affectionately known as the Helen of the West Indies. I am currently enrolled at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware, pursuing my master’s degree in International Business with a concentration in Management. I also have a bachelor’s degree from the same college and have an associate degree from Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey.
My journey as an international student began from my island home as a member of the St. Lucia national team, where I was selected to participate in a soccer showcase in the presence of some U.S. college coaches with the intention of being awarded a soccer scholarship as a successful participant. Fortunately, I was awarded a scholarship from Essex County College for a two-year program in which I pursued and obtained my associate degree in Business Management. During my playing career at Essex, our college was regional champion consecutively.
Upon completion of the program at Essex I was recruited and granted a partial soccer scholarship to pursue my bachelor’s degree at Goldey-Beacom College. Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree, I was awarded with a grant that allowed eligible students to pursue their masters and was very honored to receive such an opportunity.
I have always said to myself that no matter what career path a person chooses, the business component is always a necessity. The world will always have a need for a person with a business interest, and there will be opportunities to share your knowledge and gain skills in this rewarding career.
